Art Circle

A space to create in community

Art Circle is an intentional creative space designed for slowing down, making art, and being in community.

You’re invited to draw, paint, collage, journal, crochet, color, or bring any creative practice that feels nourishing to you. This is not a structured class, and there is no expectation to be “good” at art. No experience is needed.

Supplies: A variety of art supplies will be available to explore and use freely. Participants are also welcome to bring a project or any materials they enjoy working with.

Atmosphere: Your creative process will be held with care. The environment will be free from judgment, pressure, or expectation. Participants are empowered to choose their own pacing and level of engagement—no talking required! A thoughtfully curated playlist will accompany the space, and a gentle closure will support your transition out of your practice at the end of the hour.

Refreshments: Enjoy light snacks and beverages.

Self-Expression is Self-Care

Rooted in the healing power of Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts is a powerful tool for healing, self-discovery, emotional hygiene, and overall self-care. Through guided creative practices, you’ll explore emotions, release stress, and develop your self-care. This workshop is not about artistic skill or perfection, but rather self-care through self-expression.

You can expect a set of 6-8 expressive arts practices centered around the theme for that workshop. All practices are optional. No talking or sharing is required.

Self-Expression is Self-Care meets in a conference room space at the SB Counseling & Wellness office in Clintonville, OH. Workshops are about 2 hours in length, and offered intermittently throughout the year.

Expressive Arts finds its deepest roots in the cultural practices of Indigenous peoples around the world. These practices have existed long before they were formalized as a Western therapeutic modality. We must honor and respect the communities who founded these practices, which includes recognizing the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization. These practices hold profound wisdom of the human experience, and we affirm that the arts are not owned by any one culture or profession, but are a shared human birthright, which has been nurtured and sustained by Indigenous peoples across generations.
